Winter Maintenance Class

The Maintenance Class is Sold Out. Thanks to everyone who signed up!

Join Baltimore Bicycle Works for a 6 week comprehensive course on bicycle maintenance and repair. Class will meet every Monday evening from 6pm to 8pm starting January 23rd. During the course, we will provide detailed instruction and opportunities for hands on learning. We aim to give you the confidence you need to perform regular maintenance of your bicycle, and common repairs. We encourage students to bring their own bicycle to ensure that the course material can be tailored to each student’s specific cycling needs.

Week 1: Course introduction, overview of bicycle anatomy and safe cycling basics.
Week 2: Roadside emergency and hands on flat change
Week 3: Bearings: What they are, what they do and how to adjust or overhaul them.
Week 4: Wheels: The parts of a wheel and how they function together to keep you rolling. We will also provide you with instruction and hands on learning so you can practice truing and tensioning wheels.
Week 5: Brakes: The various types of brakes, the basics of how they work, and hands on learning how to adjust brakes.
Week 6: Derailleurs: How derailleurs and shifters work and time for hands on learning how to adjust your derailleurs.

Class sizes are limited to ensure everyone gets ample attention and time to practice - with a maximum of 8 students, so sign up today! The series of 6 classes is $300 per student and requires a $150 deposit to hold your spot.  All students will also receive a 15% discount on any tools purchased throughout the duration of the course.

Individual classes can be purchased for $65 per class, however we will prioritize registration space for series students. As such we will not take deposits to hold individuals classes.
