From The Minds of the Workers

The Baltimore City Police Department and the death of John Yates

Baltimore Spokes has obtained a response from the Baltimore Police.  They do not indicate that they have located the driver of the vehicle, or interviewed this person.  They do lay the all blame on the recently departed cyclist.

I hope I am somehow mistaken and that the police have done a thorough investigation.  If they have not identified and interviewed the driver involved in this fatal crash, how can they know if the driver knew of the crash and its terrible consequences?

Blaming a man who is not here to defend himself, and exonerating the other party without interviewing them does not seem like appropriate police work.  Like I said before, I hope I am mistaken.

This is the first I have mentioned this tragic passing on our website, I do not know if it will be the last.  I did not know Mr. Yates, though his friends and family make him seem like a person I would have liked to know.  I know I speak for all of the workers here at the bicycle shop when I say our thoughts our with Mr. Yates’ family in this difficult time.
