Maryland Named 10th Most Bike Friendly State
The League of American Bicyclists has announced their 2011 standings for most bike friendly states and communities. Maryland was ranked 10th and Baltimore received a bronze rating. The list is based on a combination of factors that include legislation, education, bike infrastructure, and public funding.
There is still much room for improvement, but I think this calls for a bit of celebration and thanks to all the folks working hard to make Baltimore and Maryland a more bike friendly place. I look forward to the day Baltimore is listed with Boulder, Davis and Portland in the Platinum ratings.
