Gitane Tandem Project – Post 1
The used bike selection here at BBW is ever evolving and always an interesting mix. While this part of our business can bring us the biggest headaches it also brings us some of the coolest projects. In addition to the sheer joy we get from breathing new life into something old and finding it a new home, every now and then we come across a real jewel that also makes a great project.
The latest “jewel” we have come across is this Gitane tandem. From our estimates this French classic dates back to the 1970’s. While we don’t know what it’s life has been like these last 40 years we can only fantasize about the cycling couples who have enjoyed the thrill and power produced by this duel engine machine. We came across the bike several weeks ago and have just finally gotten around to cleaning it off and making a shopping list for parts.
