Dallas To Minneapolis on the Long Haul Trucker

Last month one of my oldest friends called me up to talk about a little tour he wanted to do. The journey would start in our home town Dallas, TX, take him almost straight up through the midwest to Minneapolis, MN and cover around 1000 miles total. No small feat to be sure. After many phone calls and emails discussing different options for bikes and accessories we focused in on the Surly Long Haul Trucker. The LHT is a heavy duty touring bike made to use and abuse. The frame and fork are made from high quality steel tubing, which combined with the Trucker’s touring specific geometry makes for a smooth ride especially while fully loaded. For panniers we went with the Axiom Typhoon and Monsoon which are waterproof, durable, and won’t give you sticker shock. Rounding out the major accessories with a pair of Jandd racks this bike was ready for the long road ahead.

So what did Tony have to say after completing the journey? ” The bike was a (expletive) dream! I’m looking forward to many more tours.” Sums it up pretty well…
